Title:
Ocean bottom hydrophone (OBH) active-source raw data, Greenland Margin, acquired during the 1996 Ewing cruise EW9607 as part of the SIGMA experiment
Abstract:
In this active-source part of the SIGMA (Seismic Investigation of the Greenland Margin) experiment, during R/V Maurice Ewing cruise EW9607, ocean bottom hydrophones were deployed in a roughly northwest-southeast orientation across the eastern margin of Greenland and airguns from the ship were fired to them. The OBH instruments were moored about 5m above the seafloor. These OBH raw data files are in standard SEG-Y format. They were generated as part of an NSF project called Deep Structure of a Hotspot Influenced Rifted Volcanic Margin: A Joint US-Danish Seismic Experiment off SE Greenland, and funding was provided by NSF award OCE94-16631. Co-chief scientists on cruise EW9607 were Steven Holbrook and Trine Dahl-Jensen. The goal of the SIGMA experiment was to make measurements of crustal thickness, velocity structure, and seismic reflectivity along the hotspot-influenced volcanic rifted margin off southeast Greenland.
